Meet the Maker

About the Maker

My name is Suzanne – the owner and maker at Escaped From The Flock. I've always been passionate about creating beautiful, handmade pieces that bring warmth and character into everyday life. Growing up, my Mum knitted me woolies throughout my childhood, instilling in me a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship and natural materials.

What began as a love for wool has evolved into something broader – a celebration of slow-made, one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a story.

About the Business

The journey began in 2013 under the name Little Frock of Sheep, focused on knitted jacquard merino pieces. Over the years, the collection grew to include dresses, skirts, tops, throw rugs, wraps, and baby blankets – all featuring intricate two-colour designs.

Life slowed down after welcoming two children, and during that time I discovered new creative passions: hand-weaving woolies, working with my Brother knitting machine, and exploring pottery. Each medium offers its own unique way to create something beautiful and functional.

Now, Escaped From The Flock is transforming into a curated collection of one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. You'll find hand-woven textiles, machine-knitted garments with a handmade touch, nature-inspired pottery, and select jacquard pieces – each item unique, each made with intention.

Every new piece in my collection is made by hand or with the help of my trusty Brother knitting machine. My pottery is shaped and glazed in small batches, inspired by organic forms and earthy tones from the natural world. Hand-woven pieces are created on my loom, one thread at a time, resulting in textiles with beautiful texture and character.

For my knitted pieces, I work with Australian merino wool whenever possible, designing patterns that are then brought to life through careful, mindful making. Whether it's the meditative rhythm of weaving, the creative flow of pottery, or the satisfying clickety clack of the knitting machine, each process is a labour of love.

Because every item is one-of-a-kind, what you see is truly what you get – unique pieces that can't be replicated, made to be treasured.
